Whispertown
Whispertown
LA-based WHISPERTOWN is the latest iteration of the unique vision of Morgan Nagler (songwriter, lead vocals, guitar). What was once The Whispertown 2000 has morphed into a less structured version of itself, with Nagler’s unmistakable vocals leading a revolving cast of musicians and artists.

As The Whispertown 2000, Nagler and company garnered support slots for Jenny Lewis, The Breeders, Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes, She & Him, The Elected, Azure Ray, Maria Taylor and many more. The band soon caught the attention of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, inspiring the first signing to their own Acony Records. Shortly thereafter, the band released 2008’s Swim, their debut release from Acony, comprised of classic songwriting and harmonious folk-pop.

WHISPERTOWN’S sophomore release on Acony Records, Parallel, sticks to Nagler’s earth grounded wisdoms while taking a turn toward a new form of lo-fi electronica. Parallel moves easily through rock gems like “Blood From Wine” and “State Of Mind” with lyrical prowess, only to be punctuated perfectly by stark dance tracks such as “Open The Other Eye.” Produced, recorded and mixed by Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes), Co-Produced by Jake Bellows (Neva Dinova), and Executive Produced by David Rawlings, the stars have aligned here. This is classic music for the people.
Nik Freitas
Nik Freitas
Nik Freitas is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist living in Los Angeles, CA. A self taught musician and engineer, Nik records and plays everything on his albums. He has released 6 records since 2002, and just finished his 7th entitled 'New to Here' due out in 2015.

Nik has toured his own music extensively and has been the opening act on many U.S./European tours for such bands as Bright Eyes, Jenny Lewis, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, Rilo Kiley, Azure Ray, and The Submarines.

In early 2008, Nik became a member Conor Oberst's Mystic Valley Band. Freitas played guitar on and toured for Oberst's 2008 self titled solo album, and 2009's 'Outer South', including having two of his own songs featured on the album.
In 2010 Nik joined the live performing band for the Danger Mouse and James Mercer project Broken Bells, and spent the year playing guitar on the road with the band. At home in L.A. Nik writes and records at his home studio called Poppy Peak and has had his songs featured on Film ('The One I Love', 'Devolved') Television shows on FOX (New Girl, Ben & Kate) MTV ( Real World, Teen Mom, Slednecks, Viva la Bam) and HBO (Sleeper Cell).
Freitas has also had the opportunity to work at other studios on larger productions, most notably playing guitar on The Shins record "Port of Morrow". Always up for taking a break from the studio, Nik also keeps busy on the road playing drums forJenny Lewis in 2012 (west coast tour) Bass for Johnathan Rice in 2013 (US tour) and Bass for M. Ward in 2014 (Australia, Europe, and Eastern U.S).

Look for the new album 'New to Here' and other recording from Nik in 2015.
Jason Boesel
Jason Boesel
For the last 15 years, LA-based drummer Jason Boesel has been planted firmly behind the kit, keeping time for the likes of Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes, The Elected, and more recently, Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band. Boesel was inspired to pick up the guitar and write his own record after his friends raved about the first song he ever wrote: 'Hustler's Son.' Now, a few studio sessions later, Jason Boesel announces his solo debut for Team Love Records: 'Hustler's Son,' out January 12, 2010.

Boesel headed into the studio in March of 2009 with a core group of collaborators: Mystic Valley Band member Nik Freitas, Blake Mills (Band of Horses), and producer Jonathan Wilson (Elvis Costello 'Momofuku' and Jenny Lewis 'Acid Tongue'). He eventually sought out the additional talents of Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Orenda Fink (O + S, Azure Ray), David Rawlings (Gillian Welch, Old Crow Medicine Show), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), and fellow Rilo Kiley member Blake Sennett.
