September 2011-October 2011
Co-Prod with David J
With The Chanteuse and The Devil’s Muse, Los Angeles-based musician David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets) presents a chilling theory that elaborates on the sensational Black Dahlia murder case of the late ’40s. David J’s musical framework melds with the interrogation of torch singer Madi Comfort, a figure in the real case, whose lover was one of the prime suspects in the murder of Elizabeth Short. The chilling play features live music from David J and collaborator Ego Plum (Ebola Music Orchestra) who composed the score for the film, as well as several other players.
Backstage: “David J’s music (with collaborating composer Ego Plum) is strong and compelling, providing an expressionistic film noir flavor to the proceedings”
