with Cillie Barnes, Bloodweiser
9/5/19 at Bootleg Theater
The Tulips are a psych-folk indie rock band, borne from the MacArthur Park area by downtown L.A., home to the ghosts of 1920's Hollywood. The Tulips bring an ethereal facet to their style of music. Their sound is layered with hypnotic melodies, beautiful harmonies and is blanketed with dreamy organs. The vibe is reminiscent of the 60's but delivered from outer space, with swirling reverberated guitars, and a moving, percussive rhythm section. You might hear the sound of the mountains high above the cityscape, echoes of the ocean and the natural world in the underlying feel of the music. They currently got back from tour and are finishing their 3rd full length record due out late summer 2019.
As a collective of LA night-crawlers, Cillie Barnes is a five-piece, avan-pop project helmed by Vanessa Long, previously of Family Of The Year. On board with Long now are Marko Kurtović, Nick White, Thomas Berg, and Andrew Tyler – and for those keeping tabs, their celebrity couple name would be Bergler Long Whitević.
Originally from a quiet suburb south of Boston, Bloodweiser’s folk-grunge sound was birthed from the mind of Gregory Crotty. Once he moved to Los Angeles, he was paired with friend, producer, and Criminal Hygiene frontman, Michael Fiore. A project inspired by anxiety, drink, dream, death and love; was recorded. Bloodweiser is now comprised of multi-instrumentalist Jack Wellborn, and drummer Ryan Wykert.
After a year of recording at Park View Studios, Bloodweiser is ready to put it all out there with their debut LP, Nothing out of Something (Else), due out late 2019. Run it again.
