$20.00 - $25.00

A modern adaptation of the classic play. Written by Sophocles. Translated by Kenneth Cavander. Adapted by Matt Minnicino. Directed by Amanda McRaven.

This adaptation takes its title from a letter written by Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Pussy Riot’s imprisoned front woman, and resonances between Creon and certain contemporary autocrats are clear. The production examines who we are when we stand up to tyrants and ask for the storm. Do we lose sight of our cause? Do we lose sight of each other? What does it mean to lead? The play also posits that in the heavy quiet inside the rage of tyranny, the tyrant himself may seek redemption.

Featuring: Emily L. Gibson, Sage Howard Simpson, Mercedes Manning, Jason Vande Brake, Jim Senti, Jeff Marras, Alana Cheuvront, Stacey Patino, Mary Borrowman & Petey Gibson.

Production Team: Tiffany Chen, Jeanine Ringer, Karyn Lawrence, Allison Dillard, Corinne Carrillo & Jeff Marras

Fugitive Kind
Fugitive Kind is a live performance ensemble that tells big stories in little rooms.

We are a company training, working, and playing together. We believe in live-ness and that all theater must begin with joy.

We make the contemporary theater experience necessary by creating experiential events devoid of pretense and powered by the raw materials of being human.

Our goal is to produce a new paradigm for theater in Los Angeles by remaking the best of yesterday's stories, by performing those crafted by today's most imaginative story makers, and by training new artists to create as Fugitive Kind.
